What is included when searching Library Search?

  • Books and e-books
  • Journals, newspapers, and serials
  • Physical media (DVDs, CDs, LPs, etc.) and most streaming audio and video videos
  • Some special collections material – including rare books, periodicals, maps, and some other printed material

What is not included when searching Library Search?

  • Articles - To search for articles across all of Emory's databases use Articles+, or select an individual database to search using Databases@Emory. Both of these options are available from the top toolbar within Library Search.

  • Book chapters - Some catalog records do have a Table of Contents note which will enable you to find some book chapter titles using a keyword search. However, many book chapters are not indexed in the catalog. Generally, you should use Articles+ or Databases@Emory to search for book chapters. Both of these options are available from the top toolbar within Library Search.
  • A comprehensive search of Emory’s special collections. While some materials are included in Library Search, you’ll also need to use other search portals. Use ArchivesSpace to search for and request manuscript and archive materials from across the Emory Libraries. Emory Digital Collections includes digitized material from Emory Libraries collections and Aviary contains audiovisual material.
  • Materials in other libraries, including Ga Tech's materials housed in the Library Service Center (LSC) - use Worldcat to search and Interlibrary Loan to request materials from other libraries.
  • Some Course Reserves – Consult our Course Reserves page or our Reserves FAQs for information about accessing the full listing of course reserves for your classes.
