Holds provide a quick and easy way for you to request and receive library materials.
- Place one or more items on hold via Library Search. Please note, if you require 24/7 access to pick up requested materials, we encourage you to select the outdoor library lockers as your pickup location.
- Wait to be notified that your hold is ready for retrieval and checkout. Please wait until you receive the Library Hold Available notification email before proceeding to the library to retrieve your requested materials.
- Pick up your requested items from the self-service hold shelves located near the Level 2 Service Desk. Self-service holds are shelved alphabetically by your last name and labeled with the first four letters of your last name and your first two initials. Books will remain on the Self-Service Holds shelve for 10 days after the notification is sent. You can pick up holds during library open hours, even when the service desk is closed by using the self-check machines to check holds out to your library account.
- Remember to check out your holds before you leave. Please note, items being held for you on the self-serve hold shelves have not been checked out to you in advance. Use your Emory ID to checkout your holds at one of the self-checkout machines or visit the Library Service Desk to complete the checkout process.
